About Me
Dario Ernesto Roca
Hi, I’m Darío Ernesto Roca, a full-stack developer and scientist who believes lifelong learning and strong communication skills are a powerful combination for achieving any goal. As a senior web developer, and with a background in life sciences (microbiology), I’ve learned that the most valuable asset is not knowing everything, but knowing how to learn new things and having a clear, proven strategy for solving problems.
When someone asks me, “What do you do to solve X or Y issue?”, I already know the answer. I don’t hesitate for a second to respond, and to act when needed. It’s not a secret, even though it’s one of the most powerful tools humanity has used to solve all kinds of problems, the same tool that helped increase life expectancy, discover antibiotics, and even reach the moon. I use it every day to solve software and website problems. I’m talking about the scientific method.
For me, it’s more than a technique, it’s a lifestyle. The scientific method has helped me resolve countless website development issues, big and small, and anyone can use it. It’s a way of thinking and approaching challenges, no matter the size or complexity. Let me share the well-known steps and how I apply them when troubleshooting a website issue:
- Observation: Identify and analyze the issue. The goal is to gather clues that point to the root cause.
- Hypothesis: Propose likely causes and potential solutions based on the observations.
- Experimentation: Not just testing, but planning tests with intention and strategy. Run actions to validate or rule out each hypothesis.
- Iteration: Evaluate results and repeat the process until the problem is resolved.
That’s it. I add one more step for teamwork: Documentation. Keep traceability of the process, results, and what worked or didn’t. Building what the industry calls a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) helps avoid rework and supports continuous improvement.
That’s me, that’s how I work. I also love to read, write, spend time with my family, and travel. That’s how I live.
